We'll admit it: we're summer junkies. Yes, it's partially because we love seeing customers come in to enjoy ice cream in our store when the temperatures are high. But ice cream or not, we love the heat. Just ask us why we moved to Arizona a few years ago (and how we might still be there if we could have juuuusssttt persuaded our families to uproot their lives and join us there).
Alas, in a few short days, we'll mark the unofficial end of it all. Soon the days and nights will cool down, we'll seek out different treats, like spicy, gingery, pumpkiny treats. And while we aren't saying goodbye to summer without a fight, we have been excitedly preparing for the cooler fall days. Twist our arms, but this has included the baking and eating of many cakes, donuts, bars, cookies and more. Here are some things you're going to love this fall:
* Caramel Apple Cake, made with fresh, local whenever possible, hand-chopped apples. Topped with salted caramel buttercream. There are two versions of this cake: a more elegant rosette-topped version, and one that mimics the look of an actual caramel apple. Both are incredibly delicious.
* BARS! Our staff does their best to keep track of our huge variety of bars. It can sometimes be a challenge! This fall, ask for Snickerdoodle, Cinnamon Roll, Hazelnut Shortbread, Toffee Pecan and many others. Let us make you a tray of them for your next party or gathering, and tell us which is your favorite.
* Pumpkin Ice Cream Cake... or, try it with a layer of Cinnamon and a layer of Pumpkin. Ask for graham crumbles or Nilla Wafers in the middle instead of the usual chocolate cookies. Or, add in some Phillies Graham Slam. So many options to celebrate fall birthdays with ice cream.
* WAFFLES! Drizzled with any of our toppings, especially local Swarmbustin' Honey from West Grove, PA. Just like all of our baked goods, our waffles aren't made with mystery mix or oil, but by our own hands using simple ingredients: butter, flour eggs, milk, and a bit of sugar. That's it!
There are so many other things to be excited for this fall, like Narberth's many festivals and events, including Music Fest (September 20), Pope Crawl (September 26), our BYOB Fall Icing Techniques Decorating Classes (September 30 and October 14), "Unofficial" Scavenger Hunt (October 17), Narberth Witch Hunt (October 24), Halloween Parade (October 30) and more.
So while we say a sad goodbye to sweet, sweet summertime, there really is so much to look forward to. Whatever brings you to our part of the world this fall, be sure to save room for what we're making. See you soon!
